Employee Spotlight – Alyssa Haigood

We’re honored to welcome a new addition to our team, Alyssa Haigood, who has joined us as a senior financial analyst. Alyssa brings over five years of experience in finance for small to medium sized businesses. At Better Therapeutics, Alyssa will contribute to budgeting, forecasting, building financial models and assisting with financial planning. Her experience and problem-solving skills will help our business operations run smoothly as we work to create new treatments to improve the quality of life for people with cardiometabolic diseases.

What led you to a career in finance?

Though I come from a long list of accounting and finance minds, finance has always been like a puzzle to me. I have always enjoyed numbers and doing the work to find or solve problems. It just so happens that financial analysis is just that.

What is the most exciting part of your work?

It would have to be seeing everything come together. Though finance is not a part of designing the product, the budgeting role is what funds the products. Seeing the result is always rewarding.

Where do you find inspiration and purpose?

I find my inspiration and purpose through my family and my faith. Both motivate me to be the best I can be and make the most out of this life we are given.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role at Better Therapeutics?

Making a difference as the company goes public. Joining a startup is exciting, there is so much potential.

Tell us one fun fact about yourself.

When I was in college, I studied abroad in Australia and New Zealand. We started in Auckland, NZ and traveled up to Cairns, Australia, over the course of a few weeks. We stopped at many places along the way, including Sydney, Australia, where I was able to climb the Sydney Harbor Bridge. We finished the trip in Cairns, where I was able to scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef.
